The Joy of Books

by Best Deals

After organizing our bookshelf almost a year ago (youtu.be my wife and I (Sean Ohlenkamp) decided to take it to the next level. We spent many sleepless nights moving, stacking, and animating books at Type bookstore in Toronto (883 Queen Street West, (416) 366-8973). Everything you see here can be purchased at Type Books. Grayson Matthews (www.graysonmatthews.com generously composed the beautiful, custom music. You can download it here: itunes.apple.com But none of it could have been done without all the volunteer hands who shelved and reshelved books all night, every night. A special thanks goes out to: Lisa Blonder Ohlenkamp Mike Takasaki Hannah Charlick Liz Walker Andrew Carty Filipe Da Luz Ruth Ann Cachero Justin Turco Adam Tuck Michael Groppo Curtis Denomme Shannon Farrell Steffi Raike Jean Marc Douville Mikhail Ferrara Clayton Vrenjak Rob Sturch Marie Rupolo Nery Orellana Mike Greco William Chong Terri Vegso Michael Leishman Emma Leishman Mike Kolberg Ryan Speziale Natalie Mathers So who wants to help us do the Library of Congress next? :)

What starts with a T and an S, who uses a library as her home, and is researching about friendship and science?
Hint: If you love books, then you know it! 

ahalya12 January 27, 2012 at 4:52 pm

Made me realise exactly what I love about books. It felt like I was watching old friends have a good time.

JeffBilkins January 27, 2012 at 5:26 pm

The value of a book is more then it’s content.

@javitoo33ar It will not allow you to post any URLs in the comment section because YouTube thinks it is spam. Search for my name (Sean Ohlenkamp) on Google and just email me through my webpage. Thank you so much!!!

@javitoo33ar Very cool! Can you give me any more information about the program it was on? Station? Time? I’d love to get a copy!

jettmanas January 27, 2012 at 10:01 pm

I worked as a bookshelver for a while at B & N and Borders. And three years at a large library.

That looked like a *lot* of work. I can’t even guess how long it took.

All those people volunteered to move those? Amazing.

kuapouchy January 27, 2012 at 10:18 pm

I want to come to Toronto just to be able to shop in your store! :) Also, thanks for the link to the song. I just bought it from iTunes. What a lovely and labor-intensive video. I’ll be watching this one again.

javitoo33ar January 28, 2012 at 1:14 am

An amazing way to get in the soul of books. A very funny way to show your bookshop to the world. In Buenos Aires it was recently shown this night on tv at main night news program, as a creative way for selling and spending time with imagination.
Thank you so much, cause books are alive and make us dream and fly always !

langin2 January 28, 2012 at 1:59 am

FrankLineberry January 28, 2012 at 6:53 am

MAZZ0Murder January 28, 2012 at 7:32 am

best thing I’ve come across all day

Ebvardh January 28, 2012 at 7:49 am

Man, who gives a shit if someone’s offended by this?
The fact that the attitudes the song discourages are so pervasive in the mid-low class that they’re stereotypes is a disgrace to booth.
Sure, they don’t define the black race as a whole, but they certainly do for a good chunk of their poor majority.
Now, I don’t give a fuck if someone comments me saying they’re the exception, get the fuck out of your house and ask yourself if your entire neighborhood is the exception.
Is it?

Megamean09 January 28, 2012 at 8:30 am

@TheMamaluigi2 REAL MEN are bronies. *brohoofs*

MrCturn3D January 28, 2012 at 11:53 am

If you press the number 4 x100 times and you still don’t want to read a book, there is something wrong with you!
